As a dance music producer, Arthur Baker created such internationally celebrated hits as “Planet Rock” (winning the Billboard Trend setter award in 1983), New Order’s “Confusion”, Rockers Revenge’s “Walking On Sunshine”, Freeez’ “IOU”, New Editions’s “Candy Girl” and his own break dance classic “Breakers Revenge” from the Beat Street film. In 1985, with Little Steven Van Zandt, Baker organized and produced the anti-apartheid anthem “Sun City” by Artists United Against Apartheid. He would go on to produce and mix such artists as Dylan, Hall & Oates, Al Green, Springsteen, The Rolling Stones, Tina Turner, Diana Ross, Cyndi Lauper, Pet Shop Boys , Fleetwood Mac and produce the music documentaries – “Finding The Funk” with director Nelson George for VH1 and “808 The Movie’ with Atlantic Records & Apple Music, along with directing a new documentary “Rocker’s Don’t Stop- The Revival Of Rockers Revenge” which will be screening at festivals spring and summer 2026. Arthur now lives in Miami with his wife and daughter and has a weekly radio show Bakers Revenge on SiriusXm Studio 54 Radio and a monthly residency at Dantes Hifi while continuing to make music,. He has also recently published his memoirs on Faber & Faber, “Looking For The Perfect Beat” while launching a podcast of the same name. Baker is currently working with co producers Nas and Michael Holman, on developing the film Beat Street as a Broadway.
